A link to my personal weblog was added to the front page. Click here

Removed "Wired Angel" from the playlist and instead placed the main titles
from "My Crappy Neighborhood", a television pilot by Fred Greenlee.
I was asked to write the title music to a pilot after the original titles
could not be licensed. I put it together in about 3 hours..
July 2006
Updated the Audio page: added some tracks, and cleaned it up
a bit.
April 2006
Working, playing, recording basic ideas, and taking care of business.
No new news now, but watch this space - as soon as I have something good
to report, I'll report it! Update: I'm working with live drums
and bass again. We'll see where the initial improvisations go. In the
meanwhile, the 3AM project is getting a new "band-name", and
a new CD title. We've had it on the shelf for a long time, and we're hoping
to release it this year.
August 2005
I've got three CDs worth of music up on iTunes. If you have iTunes, enter
the iTunes Store and enter "rubenstein" in the search value.
You can now buy the songs you like from the Cathedral, Image,
and Tonecluster CDs!
In other news, I'm slowly working on some new music and practicing piano,
getting my chops back into shape. We'll see how well the piano sounds
in a recording, and hopefully we can use it for the next few projects.
May 2005
5/24 It's been a busy couple of months. I upgraded the studio, replacing
the old Mac G4 with a new, faster G4; replaced the old recording software
with a newer version of ProTools, and added another monitor screen to
the Mac. Two screens, baby, so I can place audio on one screen and the
mixing console on the other.
The music has been interesting: I've contacted a drummer and bassist for
a new trio project, along the lines of Cathedral.
I'll keep you updated. . .
I also spoke with a director about scoring his surfing documentary.. cross
your fingers, as I'd like to get the gig. I'm not a surfing dude - more
of a motorcycle guy - but I enjoy watching these folks in the early mornings
down at the beach.
March 2005
3/19 Greg Clow over at 'feedback monitor' at CIUT in
Toronto played a song called 'Recycled Spy Movie' (available on the 'Tonecluster'
CD) last month. Check out his website!
He spins some quality music and features special concerts in-studio. I've
uploaded 'Recycled Spy Movie' to the audio page for your listening pleasure.
3/13 I'm working on some new music, and I've uploaded a work-in-progress
version. I'm not sure where I want to go with this thing (called "demoedit"
for the moment), but we'll see. The mp3 might be a little 'hot' (or loud)
as we say, so check your volume before you play the track.
You may notice some influence from Robert Fripp in there; for the musicians
out there, I overlaid a 9/8 phrase over a 7/8 phrase against a 4/4 pulse.
The texture is interesting, to say the least.
February 2005:
Welcome to the re-launched website! Looks good, doesn't it? Thanks to
Urban Frenzy

January 2005:

February 2004:
Wow! Way too long in between news updates! Check out the audio page for
some mp3 files, selected for your listening pleasure. Much has been going
on since '02, and I am happy to say that I'm back in the studio finally
and working on some new music. Stay tuned.. as it gets recorded, I'll
put it on the website!
February 2002:
Three A.M. has been added to the playlists of echoes, a "... daily two-hour
music soundscape, distributed by Public Radio International and broadcast
on over 150 radio stations from Maine to California." Please visit their
site and help support another wonderful radio program.
December 2001:
Finally! The project I did with the talented Roman Morykit of Gypsy Soul,
(formerly named 'eidolon' but now called 'three a.m.') is up at mp3.com
as three am!! Click
here to visit the page.
June 2001:
The band, The Science Fiction Ensemble, had its first ever gig at The
Baked Potato in North Hollywood. It went great, we had a blast, and we'll
have more performances in the future. We went onstage without a proper
rehearsal, no matter what the news says below (we had only one!) , and
made it all up as we went along. Not only did we have fun, but it sounded
great, and the room full of wonderful, nice people who came out on a Wednesday
night to hear us said they had a good time as well!
April 2001:
The new band is in rehearsals, and sounds great! David Carol-Libman is
back on drums (not that he ever left), along with Andrea Carol-Libman
on another set of drums (yep, they're married). On bass is Svante Westerberg,
and yours truly will be banging away on piano and assorted sounds and
noises. There is a web page, and its www.gearheadmusic.com/SFE. What is
SFE? It stands for the Science Fiction Ensemble. The music is along the
lines of what you hear on "Where The Hell Am I?" and "The First Day" and,
of course, "Cathedral". Stay tuned to the webpages, the message board,
and the news for updates on performances and CD releases.
